The Innu tribe live in the South East of Canada. They have been living their for Millanias. Their land is called Nitassinan. They loved nature and respected it.
The Innus moved around a lot. Half of the year the waterways of the Nitassinan was frozen so they would travel with snowshoes pulling toboggans. They would normaly travel in small groups, about with 2-3 families. If the water was not frozen they would use canoes to travel to the cost or a large inland lake where they can fish, trade and meetup with friend.
The Innu tribe is a very environmental tribe that respects nature a lot. They travel around during the year in small groups. Since 1950 the government has been pressuring the tribe to live in fixed communities. This has been very hard for a lot of people and they have started taking drugs. The tribe has been losing their connection to nature. The government did this because they want to build dams to make electricity.
In this blog I will be telling you about some major problems that the Innu's have. I will also tell you my solution to these problems.
